Title: Pisca-Piscar
Year: 2008“Pisca-Piscar” is an installation work by Brazilian contemporary artist Mariana Manhães.
Two animated talking objects a chandelier and a sconce – command a dialogue that manifests itself through the interaction between the works parts. The chandelier and the sconce videos are placed, respectively, within a big structure on the floor and a smaller one, hanging on the wall.
Both structures are interconnected and commands are interchangeable. The machines precarious and arrhythmic movements, connections and sounds are part of this organic machine possible vocabulary.
Mariana Manhães é uma artista de Niterói/RJ, que tem desenvolvido um trabalho bem interessante com robótica. Seus trabalhos tem como característica a exposição das suas estruturas, fios, componentes e montagens ficam à mostra. Ela costuma utilizar em seus projetos produtos alterados como MP4s e TVs. Os robôs aparentemente não são interativos, mas tem uma “humanidade” notável.
